Photographers: opinions on camera for 15 year old?

I'm really interested in purchasing a camera. Although most nice cameras are fairly expensive, I'm not concerned about the money aspect. I love the cameras that you can continuously take pictures with out waiting thirty seconds in between shots. I was looking at the Nikon D90 thinking it would be a good option. What are YOUR opinions on a nice camera for me? Thanks!
Yes, I do have a 2 megapixel camera phone and it works fine. I would like a nice camera for vacations, hanging out with friends, basketball games, and to get experience for photography school.

the 2 megapixel camera on the back of your mobile phone should be enough for a 15 year old,

The features I like are: 3" LCD screen, 5X or more zoom, and LESS than 10 mega pixels. Unless you are planning to take portraits, the big mega-pixels are a waste. Even w/ 3 mega-pixels, you can watch pix on your big screen tv and they will be clear. Staples (and other places) have cameras like this for under $100. Other things I prefer are a rechargeable battery. We have a Panasonic and the battery is wonderful. Add several smaller (2 to 4) gig memory cards and you are set. Be sure to label the cards and dl/back up the pix often.

Good Luck!

I think the Nikon D40 and Nikon D3000 are great, aswell as the Canon EOS Rebel Xsi Models.

The D90 might be too much camera for a new comer. I'd probably look at a Nikon D3000 myself.
