How do i put my camera in bulb mode?

i have a 1000d Canon rebel. and i know how to use the preset shutter speeds, but i want to know how to set the exposure for longer (i know i will have to hold down the button the whole time...but how do i set it?)

Have you read your owner's manual?

When all else fails, READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual for your camera. That is how you learn to actually use the camera and all its features.

I used it for these pictures of the Louisville skyline as seen from across the Ohio River on the Indiana shore. You will definitely need a tripod and having the Canon Remote Switch RS-60E3 is also advisable.
