Canon Rebel 2000. What do you know about this model?

I was at a garage sale this summer and bought a mildly used Canon Rebel 2000 film camera for $20. For all of you camera connoisseurs, is this a good camera? I'm just starting out. Any tips?

A new canon:

It's an "eos" ..if that makes a difference.

Well, it's a film rig, with a 35mm focal plane shutter SLR. So if you are wanting to shoot film you are on th right track.

Secondly, being an EOS system camera the lenses from other EOS cameras will interchange and work on this battery. The camera has AF (auto focus) that will activate at half depression of the shutter. Of the film Canon EOS systems, this one was about 3/4 of the way up the line. If you are looking for an entry level Canon SLR camera, this one should do well for you. Have the mirror cleaned by a camera shop. Don't touch the mirror yourself!

Yes, it is a good camera. I teach photo and through the years, I have had a number of students use that camera and it has worked well. Do have an authorized repair center do any cleaning,

Below are some links to websites, the 1st being to instructions that may be of help in learning the camera. The 2nd link, photo.net, is a website that has a large online community of photographers and there are discussions forums where various photo topics are discussed and you can find help there also, The 3rd link will go to a web page where you can download a pdf manual for the camera (it is aabout a 22MB pdf file). Then I added some photo dealer links.

Hope this helps.
